Maple connects straight to Toast through Toast’s Orders API and takes payment through Toast Hosted Checkout, so orders and payments both land in your Toast account.
Cards go through your Toast account, so there is no separate business verification (KYC) step. Locations that connected Toast through StreamOrders before Toast Direct should follow Toast through StreamOrders.

Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have:
  • ✅ Admin access to Toast Web
  • ✅ The Toast restaurant GUID for each location
  • ✅ A Maple Pro plan, which includes phone ordering and POS integrations

Install the Maple integration from your Toast Web integrations page.

Enter your Toast restaurant GUID in Maple to connect the location.

Create the dining options and service charges described in What to set up in Toast Web.

Pick those dining options and charges in Maple.

How it works

  • Maple sends each online order directly to Toast (Orders API) and prices it through Toast so the charged total always matches the Toast check.
  • The guest pays via Toast Hosted Checkout; funds settle into your Toast deposit account.
  • Delivery is handled outside Toast. For Maple-managed delivery, Maple computes the fee and puts it, plus the driver tip, on your Maple Delivery open-amount service charge. For your own drivers, Toast sets the fee from the delivery service charges you select — optional; with none selected, delivery is free — and the driver tip is added to the order’s tip.

Order types

Maple-managed delivery is sent as Take Out because, from the kitchen’s perspective, a courier picks it up — exactly how DoorDash/Uber Eats marketplace orders arrive in Toast. Your own deliveries are sent as real Delivery orders so they appear in your Toast delivery reporting.

What to set up in Toast Web

You’ll create dining options in Toast, a Maple Delivery service charge for Maple-managed delivery, and (only if you charge for your own drivers) delivery service charges. Then map them during Maple onboarding. Names are not shown to guests — they’re for your reporting.

Dining options (Toast Web → Dining Options)

  • A Take Out dining option (required) — used for pickup and Maple-managed delivery.
  • A Delivery dining option (required only if you offer your own / BYOF delivery).
  • Recommended: a second Take Out dining option named “Maple Courier” so your kitchen can tell a Maple-fleet courier order apart from a regular guest pickup. Optional — if you skip it, Maple-managed orders use your standard Take Out option.

Service charge — "Maple Delivery" (required for Maple-managed delivery)

In Toast Web, go to Finance → Related → Settings → Service charges & fees and create a service charge with these settings (Customize Service Charges and Mandatory Gratuity):
  • Name: Maple Delivery (for your reporting — guests don’t see it)
  • Charge Type: Open Amount (Maple sends the exact amount on each order)
  • Apply After Amount Threshold: $0.00
  • Assign to check owner (Gratuity)?: No, Assign the fee to the restaurant.
  • Taxed?: No
  • Delivery?: No
  • Takeout?: No
  • Dine-In?: No
Leave Delivery, Takeout, and Dine-In all set to No. Toast does not allow an Open Amount charge to be tied to a dining option, and it doesn’t need one: Maple adds this charge only to Maple-managed delivery orders, so a regular pickup is never charged it. Don’t turn on any auto-apply setting. If your Toast account shows a maximum check amount for this charge, leave it blank.Select this charge in the Maple delivery service charge dropdown during Maple onboarding, or later under Location → Integrations → Toast → Edit dining & delivery setup. Only charges set up as above are listed; any other Open Amount charge, or a Fixed Amount / Fixed Percent charge with “Maple” in its name, is shown with the setting to fix. On each Maple-managed delivery order, Maple sets the charge to that order’s delivery fee plus driver tip. If Maple-managed delivery is on and no usable charge is selected, Maple blocks those orders before the guest pays.Maple saves this charge’s settings when you save your Toast settings in Maple. If you later change the charge in Toast, open Edit dining & delivery setup and save again so Maple re-checks it. If it no longer qualifies, Maple clears it and blocks Maple-managed delivery orders until you select a charge that does.
This charge is Maple’s delivery fee + driver tip, not your revenue. It appears on your Toast check and deposits into your Toast account; Maple then bills the same amount to your card on file in its weekly delivery billing, so it nets out. It is not a gratuity and not taxed, so it never enters your tip pool or payroll.

Service charges for your own drivers (optional)

Optional. Merchants who deliver for free — for example inside a small zone with no Toast delivery service charges — can finish setup without selecting one. Those orders are placed with no delivery fee, and Maple shows a warning that no fees will be applied.To charge for delivery, follow Configure Delivery Fees Using Your Own Drivers to create one or more delivery service charges (for example BYOF Delivery Fee) with:
  • Charge Type: Fixed Amount or Fixed Percent (Toast doesn’t allow Open Amount delivery charges; Toast sets the amount)
  • Assign to check owner (Gratuity)?: No, Assign the fee to the restaurant.
  • Taxed?: per your normal delivery-fee tax treatment
  • Delivery?: Yes
This fee is your revenue. The driver tip on a self-managed delivery folds into your normal store tip.

Connect in Maple and map your options

In Maple onboarding, select the dining options, the Maple Delivery service charge, and any your-drivers service charges you created above. Maple validates them against Toast and will flag anything misconfigured before you go live. You can change these later under Location → Integrations → Toast.

Going live

Once mapped and validated, place a test order of each type (pickup, Maple-managed delivery, and — if you use it — self-managed delivery) and confirm each appears correctly in Toast with the right charge.
  • Menu items, prices, modifiers, options and categories import as you set them up in Toast
  • Items you 86 in Toast stop being offered on calls
  • Menu changes you publish in Toast reach Maple automatically, and you can also resync the menu from the Maple dashboard
  • Items hidden in Toast are not synced
Menu changes must be made in Toast.

Payments

  • Guests pay through Toast Hosted Checkout, and funds settle into your Toast deposit account
  • Delivery is paid when the order is placed; pickup can be paid on the call or in store if you allow it

Disconnecting Toast

  • Remove Maple in Toast Partner Connect
  • Toast sends a partner removal notice, and Maple turns off the Toast integration for that location
